We're your kind of crazy

Legendary Race Series is a new global, multi-stage, self-supported ultra race series granting competitors access to some of the most remote, historic, and chronicled landscapes in the world. Courses will be rugged, extreme conditions can be expected, and you will be challenged both physically and mentally. If this sounds like fun to you, maybe we're your kind of crazy! Events will include trail footraces and mountain bike races. Races will occur annually, with one new race added each year for the next several years. Join us for the first race in the series, the Cloud City Multi-Stage. We are thrilled to share the news that elite runner Jax Mariash will be competing in the Cloud City Multi-Stage in September 2019! . Her success in running is so extensive it’s hard to know where to start...! Jax was the first woman in the world to complete the 4 Deserts Series Grand Slam Plus, was crowned the 2016 4 Deserts Female World Champion, was 6th Female at the 2018 Marathon des Sables, and the list goes on and on! . Jax does more than run though (as if that wasn’t enough!) The elite U.S. military ski corp of WWII was trained right here in Leadville! Today a designated National Historic Site, it’s a pretty cool history in our backyard for military buffs, historians, or anyone interested in a slice of the past! Want to check it out? You’re in luck—it’s part of the course! . Camp Hale was a U.S. Army training facility constructed in 1942 for what became the 10th Mountain Division. . The armed ski corps in the U.S. was based on the ski warfare tactics of the Finnish army during the Winter War (1939–1940). Early in the effort, 8,000 skiers and outdoorsmen were recruited. When the 10th Mountain Division arrived in the winter of 1942 only a small portion of the 15,000 barracks were filled. The War Department needed to train more skiers in the elite fighting ski corps and asked the American Ski Patrol Association to contact ski racing clubs, ski schools, and local patrol units, nationwide—each applicant had to supply three letters of recommendation. . The nearby town of Leadville to the south, the only source of recreation for the trainees, was persuaded to change its moral character, perceived "to be on a rather low plane."
